About the Book
The Centerville Mountains offer a tremendous variety of hiking and venturing opportunities. From photographing wild flowers to geocaching, the mountains are a wonderful playground. They are a micorcosm of our natural parks, containing sites worthy of a long distance drive. Picturesque waterfalls, jutting rock formations and gentle mountain streams cascading over rocks and beneath overhanging lush greenery are seen throughout the canyons.
Wildlife - deer, moose, bobcats, cougars, foxes, coyotes, and much more - await the patient hiker, willing to quietly search them out. And don't overlook the small animals and creepy critters. Bumble bees crawling through the spring tistle blooms, ground squirrels darting across the rock breaks, lizards crossing the trails ahead of y ou, slipping beneath a rock or piece of brush. Add the snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, and even the black beetles that put their head down and stick their bum in the air as y ou approach. A delightful display awating your discovery.
Tales, Trails, and Sites of the Centerville Mountains provides a brief overview of the history of the mountains, natives, and settlers. It includes detailed trail maps, GPS guidance, and points the reader to little-known sites of interest. Key to the book are fun tales of events and happenings over the years. Who lived there, dug the mines, built the dams, terraced the canyons, and left their footprints on history.
